In February 2026, Tourism Corporation Bonaire (TCB) signed memoranda of understanding with three windsurfers — Amado Vrieswijk, Arxon Gomperts and Tycho Smits — making them official Bonaire Local Ambassadors for the year. TCB presents the programme as a way to back local talent and promote the island as a watersports destination.
Both TCB's release and the Bonaire Insider's coverage profile Arxon the same way: he started windsurfing at 11, has won the PWA U15 Slalom Fin world title twice, and in 2026 races in the U17 category for the first time, aiming to keep developing and to represent Bonaire with pride.
For partners, the ambassadorship means Arxon already carries the island's own tourism brand on the world stage.
